THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THIS WORK is born out of a tragedy that was once unheard of in our public and private schools. Dr. Vicki Kaspar, mother, wife, and friend/advocate for students, was shot and killed in her office at Millard South High School in Omaha, Nebraska, by a disgruntled student. But the love and dedication to the youth under her care is still felt strongly today. Her light, even in dark outside circumstance, came from the inside and will never be diminished, only illuminated a thousand times brighter by her students who carry her fire.
This work is dedicated to all victims of violence and oppression. May all of us be inspired by their courage, and be embolded by their sacrifice.
